Project Description

Collaborating with Schell Games, I helped build a comprehensive moderation and abuse detection system for Among Us VR’s in-game communication. The system was designed to maintain a safe and inclusive environment by detecting and managing foul language, harassment, and abusive behavior in real-time.

KEY FEATURES

This system was designed to monitor in-game voice chat in real time, using AI to detect abusive language and flag harmful interactions without disrupting gameplay. Voice inputs are transcribed, analyzed instantly, and passed through a smart moderation dashboard that allows moderators to issue tiered actions based on severity. A behavioral scoring system tracks user trends, while cross-platform syncing ensures data flows smoothly between VR clients, backend analysis, and the React-based admin dashboard — all while respecting user privacy and data protection protocols.

MY ROLE

I worked closely with the team at Schell Games to design and develop the moderation interface and backend logic. I focused on building a fast, accessible React dashboard for moderators, integrating real-time data streams, and ensuring that moderation tools were intuitive and effective. I also implemented backend logic for foul language detection, user scoring, and ban logic — with a strong emphasis on clarity, minimal friction, and user privacy.
